A Fundraiser to Benefit Summer & Winter Youth Programs at Hickory Ski Center

Join the Hickory Legacy Foundation in a celebration and fundraiser supporting summer and winter youth programs! The Hickory Hike 4 Kids event will be an all-day affair with a community hike up our recently renovated trails, an outdoor BBQ featuring music, local beer and wine, delicious food, and family games.

The Hickory Legacy Foundation is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, educational and recreational opportunities, and environmental sustainability in the region, specifically the 3 Sisters Range. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support ongoing operational costs, the Hickory EcoLearn summer program, and youth ski programs!

The Hikes

The Summit Hike

  • Distance: 1.25 miles
  • Elevation Gain: 1,000 feet
  • Time to Complete: 1-2.5 hours

Challenge yourself with a hike to the top of the iconic Hickory Ski Area! The trail will follow the ski area trails out to Ridge Run. The hike up the Ridge Run trail has beautiful eastern views of Warrensburg and mountains surrounding Lake George. Once at the top, views of the southern Adirondack Mountains, Gore Mountain, and High Peaks Area can be seen.

The trail is a mostly gradual grade with some steep sections.  It is wide, level, and comprised of grass, sand and loose cobble, and some flat rock surfaces.

The Mid Station Hike

  • Distance: 0.70 miles
  • Elevation Gain: 320 feet
  • Time to Complete: 0.5-1.5 hours

Tour the mid-mountain area and historic Hickory lifts! Start at the base and follow the Snowshoe Glade up to Poma 2. Traverse across the mountain to the top of the T-bar lift and through to the Poma 1 lift mid-station. Make your way straight down Honey Run, imagining fresh powdery ski turns while overlooking Hickory Lodge and the awaiting Party.  Views on the hike include the mountains to the north of Hickory and lush foliage throughout the ski area.

The trail is a gradual grade with options to take some steeper routes.  Trails are wide and comprised of grass and loose to hard-pack gravel surfaces.

Around the Base Hike

  • Distance: 0.4 miles
  • Elevation Gain: 100 feet
  • Time to Complete: 0.5-1.0 hours

Show your young shredder where we hope to have them learning to ski! Start at the base hike up the two-track to the top of Lower Peabody.  Stop and admire the view of the mountains to the north of Hickory. From there, you’re free to follow your tracks back to the lodge or hike through Lower Cotton Tail to the base of the T-bar. If we have recent precipitation, there are some streams near the hike that the young ones will enjoy playing in.

The trail is a gradual grade on a two-track road and then through a grassy field.  The hike is wide open and has a well-packed gravel path and grassy areas to hike on.
