2024 EcoLearn Program
Welcome to the 2024 EcoLearn Program! Our instructors, Lily and Aaron, take an exploratory approach to environmental education. In this program, geared towards families and children of all ages, they venture into Hickory's trails to identify flora and fauna, learn basic survival skills, and practice ways to be responsible in the outdoors. Lily and Aaron utilize a Waldorf-style teaching pedagogy, so students drive each class. The day's activities are based on the students' interests, and there is plenty of space for creativity. Class sizes will be limited to 20 students.

Meet Your Instructors
Lily and Aaron are life partners who started a guiding company. They’ve been traveling the country and working outdoor jobs every season for the past 4 years. Now they're settled in the Adirondacks in upstate New York where they forage food, guide environmental education walks, and lead trips in the backcountry.
Their latest venture, Pickle Knoll Outdoors, offers environmental education classes to teach about the natural world. They visit classrooms, after school programs, senior centers, and more to discuss a range of topics relating to our environment. Their goal is to connect people with their surroundings by engaging them with their local ecosystem.
